Thika Town MP Wainaina Wa Jungle says he will not withdraw from the gubernatorial race in favour of another candidate.

The Kiambu governor hopeful dispelled rumors on social media that he has withdrawn from the race to clinch UDA ticket in support of Senator Kimani Wamatangi.

Wainaina who will be battling it out with Wamatangi and former Governor Ferdinand Waititu for the UDA ticket during the party nominations on Thursday this week said the claims are ill-timed and meant to confuse his supporters.

Speaking in Gatundu town, Wainaina said he is in the race to the end, urging his challengers to concentrate on wooing voters saying it is the electorates who will determine who will fly the UDA flag.

Wainaina said UDA must ensure it fields the best candidate in the August polls or risk losing the seat.

He said claims of ongoing negotiations for consensus-building that would see him step down for Wamatangi in the governors’ contest are misleading.
