Family vacation turns tragic after the first son of Ikolomani MP Bernard Shinali dies in a swimming pool while rescuing a Canadian girl who was drowning.

The legislator is said to be overwhelmed with grief  and is planning to fly to the United States to attend to the matter and make funeral arrangements.

The said Canadian girl survived and was rushed to hospital where she was confirmed to be in stable condition.

Kenyan Chris Adema Masaka aged 35,  was a  serving US marine and has left behind a nine months pregnant wife and two children.

Several leaders from Kakamega county, including National Assembly Chief Whip Benjamin Washiali, Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala, Navakholo MP Emmanuel Wangwe and Kakamega County MP Elsie Muhanda visited and condoled with the MP.

Washiali said,“It is not clear how a person who trained to survive in difficult situations like the US marine could drown in a swimming pool. Humanity will remember the young man for his bravery because he died saving a life.”
