Outgoing Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has refuted reports that he is gunning for the Mwala Parliamentary seat.

The Maendeleo Chap Chap party leader clarified he is not running for any elective seat in the August 9 election.

“For the avoidance of doubt, I wish to clarify that at this particular time, I am not running for any elective position in the forthcoming elections. I am concentrating on campaigning for the Kenya Kwanza coalition so that Kenya can get a new system where dreams can come true he tweeted.

Mutua early this month ditched Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Coalition to join Kenya Kwanza led by Deputy President William Ruto, citing mistrust.

The county boss who shelved his presidential bid revealed he had negotiated for a powerful slot should Kenya Kwanza ascend to power.

He said he had been offered the Deputy Chief Minister position with a ministerial portfolio in Infrastructure Development.
