Controversial gospel musician Ben Githae entertained Azimio la Umoja supporters during the unveiling of Narc-Kenya party leader Martha Karua as Raila Odinga’s running mate at the Kenyatta International Conference Centre (KICC) in Nairobi

To the surprise of many, Githae had composed and recorded a song dubbed “We Are in Safe Hands” to praise the Azimio presidential ticket.

In the song, he described Raila and Karua as the best combination to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta.

“On Monday May 15, I wrote the song and recorded it in the studio. I’m calling it ‘We are safe with Baba na Mother Karua’ because it’s about Karua and the former Prime Minister,” he said.

When asked if he knew about the revelation that the former Gichugu MP would be chosen by the running mate, he said that he learned about it at a press conference, just like other Kenyans.

He did concede, though, that he had always endorsed Karua as the ideal candidate to join with Odinga. Furthermore, his conviction inspired him to write the song, and on Monday afternoon, his desire came true. The song also refers to them as the RaoKa pair, which is Swahili for “rising.”

“I’ve always been pro-Karua, and I’ve always felt that she’s the perfect person,” he explained.”I composed the song with the certainty that she’ll win the ticket.”

Githae is famous for releasing popular songs during the campaign seasons.

In the lead up to the 2017 General Election, he wrote a song titled “Tano Tena” to urge Kenyans to re-elect President Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto.

After releasing the song, the President gave him a fat check.
