Inflation ticked up slightly in November to 5.58 per cent from 5.53 per cent in the previous month, the latest data from the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) show.
The largest movements in prices was in the transport and communications sectors, which faced tax increases during the month.
The transport sector was further subjected to strict traffic rules, pushing up the cost of travelling.
“The overall year-on-year inflation in November stood at 5.58 per cent [compared with] 5.53 per cent in October,” the KNBS said in a statement released Friday.
However, the inflation level was still lower than that in September when it stood at 5.70 per cent.
