John Cardinal Njue urges KBC to keep on airing Holy Mass – KBC

The head of the Catholic Church in Kenya, His Eminence John Cardinal Njue has appealed to the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) to continue airing Sunday masses.

Njue, while welcoming the reopening of the economy and places of worship said airing of Sunday Masses was necessary since children below the age of 14 and senior citizens are barred from attending.

“Catholic bishops have written to KBC to continue airing Holy Mass. We hope they consider”, he said.

KBC has been airing all the Sunday masses since the closure of places of worship in the country due to COVID 19.

“We express our heartfelt thanks to all media stations especially KBC which has aired our live Holy masses since the beginning of the COVID 19 pandemic.” He said

Njue spoke on Sunday during the Holy Mass aired on KBC channel 1.

The Catholic church is set to reopen its doors to congregants on Tuesday the 14th of July,2020 in line with the President Uhuru Kenyatta’s directive to reopen places worships with not more than 100 people per service.

Uhuru gave directions that a church service should only last for one hour in line with recommendations and guidelines from the Inter-Faith Council chaired by Nyeri Archbishop Anthony Muheria.
