Jose Mourinho has showered Mikel Arteta with praises despite Arsenal suffering a 2-1 defeat to Tottenham during the London derby played on Sunday, July 12.
Despite Arsenal dominating the match away from home, it was Spurs who had the last laugh as they claimed all the three points and bragging rights.
The Gunners’ dominance saw them bag the opener through Alexander Lacazette in the 16th minute, only for the Frenchman’s goal to be nullified by Son Heung-Min soon after.
Toby Alderweireld went on to score the match winner minute to stoppage time as he nodded home from Heung-Min’s corner.

The result sent Spurs above Arsenal who effectively dropped to ninth as their European football chances suffered a massive blow.
However, despite the outcome, Mourinho believes the Emirates club is on an upward trajectory under the tutelage of Arteta.
“I think the game was more tactical, I think Mikel found a way to find them to play and be stable and improve. They are improving
Before the league meeting, Arsenal had picked three wins and a draw in four of their previous league matches.
