Former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo has set the record straight on joining Kenya African National Union to team up with Baringo Senator Gideon Moi.

Kabogo made the remarks after reports surfaced in a section of Kenyan media indicating that he had decamped to KANU on 20 Jul 2020.

Taking to social media in a post that went, Kabogo dismissed the reports linking him to KANU.

He asserted that he left KANU in 2002 and made it clear that reports and speculation that he had been selected to lead a campaign to revamp and popularize the party in the Mt. Kenya region are false.

“You people are stupid, why are you saying that I have joined KANU. I have been working all day, where did I find the time to join KANU?

“I left KANU in 2002 so you should stop spreading false information, it’s stupid!” Kabogo slammed.

The reports of the governor joining KANU surfaced on Sunday, 19 Jul 2020 after a meeting of KANU officials from the Mt. Kenya region.

KANU Mt. Kenya Chairman John Mukirai had disclosed plans to revamp the independence party and popularize it across the region in readiness for 2022.

Kabogo made a maiden appearance in BBI rallies alongside Gideon Moi in Meru on 29 Feb 2020 amid speculation that the pro-BBI team will unite to form a formidable alliance for the 2022 elections.
