A section of traders in Kakamega County are counting losses after their stalls build in front of Kakamega County Referral Hospital were demolished ahead of Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe’s visit to the facility Saturday.

The traders who accused Kakamega County Government of failing to serve them with a demolition notice, read hypocrisy in the whole exercise claiming that they have been operating on the premises for years; why the demolition now.

The traders were shocked to find their premises flattened by Kakamega County Government.

In what is claimed to be an exercise aimed at cleaning the environment outside Kakamega County referral hospital ahead of Kagwe’s visit, the irate traders claim they were not given a demolition notice.

The traders whose income has been adversely affected by the Coronavirus pandemic accused the county of subjecting them to more devastation amid COVID-19 pandemic.

Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe is expected at the Kakamega County referral hospital to inspect its level of preparedness in dealing with COVID-19.
