KANU Party officials and aspirants from Eldama Ravine branch have protested the decision by the party to issue direct nomination to one aspirant.

The aspirants who addressed journalists in Mogotio expressed their disapproval of the party decision to hand Ms Carol Talam for the Eldama Ravine Constituency.

Led by the branch chairman Mr Wilson Tanui, the group demanded the immediate nullification of the certificate and called upon the party to organise for nomination.

According to Mr Tanui, neither the party officials nor the aspirants were consulted before the decision was made by the party.

The official lamented the lack of clear communication from the party while making decisions affecting the branch party members.

“As official we condemn and reject the decision by the party to issue direct nomination to one aspirant and demand for free, fair and transparent nominations,” said Mr Tanui.

He warned that the party risks disintegrating should the issue not be addressed accordingly.

Ms Gladys Jeruto tagi who is a party member complained of favoritism by the party on some members at the expense of others.

Ms Jerutoo lamented that the party has been running activities while leaving the loyal members in the darkness.

According to the aspirant, the members have been left to learn of the party’s new developments in the social media contrary to the expectations.

She rejected proposals for consensus which she said was not fair.

“There is no reason for an aspirant to go to the grassroots only for the ticket to be issued directly to certain individuals. This is unfair and we will not accept,” said Ms Jeruto.

According to the aspirants, the party leadership should engage its members and officials in its decision so as not to wreck the party.

Mr Kipngetich who was running for the seat said he was called for an interview with the party and told that he will be informed that the party will inform them on the way forward.

He however claims to have learnt from the media that the party had decided to hand his competitor the tick.

“I feel that my rights have been violated as I was not involved in any way in the party’s decision,” said Mr kipngetich.

In the constituency’s parameter contest former cabinet Minister Musa Sirma who won the recent UDA nominations will battle out with Ms Carol Tallam with the status quo.
