The Ministry of Health has announced 1,259 new Covid-19 cases from 8,081 samples tested in the last 24 hours. This has raised the national tally to 203,213.
The cumulative number of samples tested so far stands at 2,132,355. The country’s positivity rate is at 15.6 per cent.
In a statement issued on Saturday, 31st July, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe announced that from the new cases, 1,224 are Kenyans while 35 are foreigners.
Kagwe said 498 patients have recovered from the disease with 357 from Home-Based Isolation and Care while 141 are from various health facilities. The total number of recoveries now stands at 188,936.
Covid-19 death toll rose to 3,931 after five more patients succumbed to the disease.
There are 1,469 patients are currently admitted in various health facilities countrywide, while 3,965 are under the Home-Based Isolation and Care program.
At the same time, 185 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 43 of whom are on ventilatory support, 86 on supplemental oxygen and 56 patients are under observation.
Another 445 patients are separately on supplemental oxygen with 399 of them in general wards and 46 in High Dependency Units (HDU).
The cases are spread in counties as follows; Nairobi 417, Nyeri 139, Kiambu 120, Mombasa 96, Nakuru 66, Kilifi 60, Kajiado 42, Uasin Gishu 34, Taita Taveta 31, Nandi 28, Busia 21, Machakos 19, Kericho and Embu 16 cases each, Nyandarua 15, Kirinyaga and Kwale 13 cases each, Trans Nzoia 11, Kisumu and Murang’a 10, Turkana nine, Baringo eight, Tana River and Bomet seven cases each, Meru six, Garissa and Siaya five cases each, Bungoma, Homa Bay, Migori, Narok, Nyamira and Kakamega four cases each, Vihiga three, Kisii, Kitui and Makueni two cases each, West Pokot and Elgeyo Marakwet had one case each.
