Kenya records 25 more cases, 22 recoveries

Kenya recorded 25 new Covid-19 cases on Tuesday from a sample size of 2,315 tested in the last 24 hours.

The country’s positivity rate is at 1.1%.

The total number of confirmed cases in Kenya now stands at 324,071 from a cumulative test of 3,637,594 conducted since March.

Of the new cases, 19 are Kenyans while six are foreigners with 12 being male while 13 females were confirmed to have contracted the virus.

The youngest is a 11-year-old while the oldest is 69 years.

22 patients have recovered from the disease, all of them from the Home Based and Isolation Care Program. This pushes the total recoveries to 318,192 of whom 265,162 are from the Home-Based Care and Isolation program, while 53,030 are from various health facilities countrywide.

No patient has succumbed to the disease therefore the cumulative fatalities remain 5,649.

According to Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe, two patients currently admitted in various health facilities countrywide, while 228 are under the Home-Based Isolation and Care program.

No patient is in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), none is on supplemental oxygen and no patient is in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).

On Vaccination

A total of 18,016,510 vaccines have been administered across the country. Of these, 16,360,168 are doses administered to the adult population (18 years and above).

Another 1,309,570 are doses administered to those between 15 to 17 years, 32,587 are below 15 years but above 12 years while 314,185 are booster doses.

The total number of vaccines administered in the last 24 hours is 6,978 while the total number of people fully vaccinated in the last 24 hours is 3,444. Proportion of adults fully vaccinated was 30.7%.

“The Government is working towards vaccinating a targeted population of 27,246,033,” said Kagwe.
