Kenya records 47 new Covid-19 cases, no death

The Covid-19 positivity rate now stands at 0.9% after 20 people have tested positive for the disease, from a sample size of 2,219 tested in the last 24 hours.

Of the cases, 8 are Kenyans while 12 are foreigners. 15 males and 5 females.

The youngest is a 15-year old while the oldest is 74 years old. Total confirmed positive cases are now 324,242 and cumulative tests so far conducted are 3,649,319.

In terms of County distribution; Nairobi 15, Kiambu 2, Mombasa, Turkana and Meru 1 case each.

The distribution of positive cases by age is as follows; 0-9 years (0), 10-19 years (1), 20-29 years (1), 30-39 (6), 40-49 (5), 50-59 (1), 60 years and above (6).

13 patients have recovered from the disease, all of them from the Home-Based and Isolation Care Program.

This pushes the total recoveries to 318,276 of whom 265,245 are from the Home-Based Care and Isolation program, while 53,031 are from various health facilities countrywide.

2 patients have succumbed to the disease which is a late death reported after conducting facility record audits in the month of May 2022.

This pushes the cumulative fatalities to 5,651.

Cumulative deaths by age; 0-9 years (62), 10-19 years (43), 20- 29 (149), 30-39 years (410), 40-49 years (647), 50-59 years (1,029), 60 years and above (3,311).

There are 3 patients currently admitted to our health facilities, while 312 are under the Home-Based Isolation and Care program.

No patient is in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), none is on supplemental oxygen and no patient is in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).

VACCINATION CAMPAIGN:

As of May 20th 2022, a total of 18,081,205 vaccines have been administered across the country. Of these, 16,392,212 are doses administered to the adult population (18 years and above).

Another 1,334,814 are doses administered to those between 15 to 17 years, 33,189 are below 15 years but above 12 years while 320,990 are booster doses.

The total number of vaccines administered in the last 24 hours is 13,994 while the total number of people fully vaccinated in the last 24 hours is 5,552. Proportion of adults fully vaccinated was 30.8%.

The Government is working towards vaccinating a targeted population of 27,246,033.
