The national women’s football team Harambee Starlets forward Bertha Omita, has clinched the Tanzanian Women’s Premier League title with Simba Queens.
Bertha who previously featured for Kenya Women’s Premier League side Kisumu All Starlets, became the first major signing for the Msimbazi Queens in August last year.
Simba ladies retained the Mainland Women’s League trophy in a hotly contested battle between themselves and their archrivals Yanga Princess, with both sides having been in an intense contest for this season’s title.
Omita had a big year in 2019 after she got called up to the Harambee Starlets for the Olympic qualifiers where Kenya was eliminated by Zambia in the fourth round.

The 23-year-old was embroiled in a transfer saga between her former employers Kisumu All Starlets and Tanzanian heavyweights on claims that she was approached without following due process.
The graduate of Bondo University with a Bachelor’s degree in Education dreams of playing in the top European leagues preferably in France and England.
She has not given up in pursuit of a regular place in the national team:
“Everything I do in this world and football, I always put God first because I believe that He is the one who makes things happen. So if everything goes His way I would wish to be a regular player in the Harambee starlets team” she said.
Kenya is expected to host the inaugural 2021 CECAFA Women’s Champions League in July.
Football Kenya Federation (FKF) CEO Barry Otieno, confirmed last month that Kenya was nominated to host 11 nations from the East African region.
Apart from Kenya, other nations expected to grace the new tournament include neighbor and fierce rivals Uganda, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Sudan, South Sudan, Zanzibar, Djibouti, Eritrea, Rwanda and Burundi.
