President Uhuru Kenyatta has today, 8th July, hosted Jubilee candidate for the Kiambaa parliamentary by-election, Kariri Njama, at State House, Nairobi.
Jubilee Party posted on social media photos of the President and Njama having a good time.
“The Party Leader with Hon. Kariri Njama #JubileeKiambaa. Tuko set! Tuko strong. Only 6 days to go. Let’s meet at the ballot,” the outfit wrote on Facebook.
The Head of State also met individuals who squared it for the Jubilee ticket with Njama.
They threw their weight behind the the Jubilee contestant.
The Jubilee candidate for Muguga ward by-election Githinji Mungara was also present at State House.
“The Party Leader, President Uhuru Kenyatta, today received a brief from the candidates & the campaign teams on their preparedness for the final leg of the 15/7 by-elections. The candidates have expressed their gratitude to the Party Leader for his continued support & encouragement,” JP said.
The State House visit comes just six days before the two mini-polls.
In Kiambaa, the big battle is between Njama and Deputy President William Ruto-linked United Democratic Alliance’s (UDA) John Njuguna Wanjiku.
Unlike in the recent Juja parliamentary by-election where Jubilee candidate Susan Waititu was whitewashed by DP Ruto-backed George Koimburi, this time round the ruling party is leaving nothing to chance.
Top Jubilee officials and influential party activists have been camping at the constituency to drum up support for Njama.
Political analysts say the winner of the high stake mini-poll is likely to shape the Mt Kenya politics.
Should Njama carry the day, the Jubilee team will dismiss Dr Ruto perceived popularity in the region.
On the flip side, a win for Wanjiku will imply that the President has lost his backyard to his deputy.
