It seems President Uhuru Kenyatta is at a personal loss following the death of retired Head of State Mwai Kibaki.

This morning, the President led in the country in viewing the body of his predecessor.

President Kenyatta and First Lady Margaret Kenyatta were first to view the remains of country’s third leader.

The President looked sad and spent some time viewing Kibaki’s body.

He then bowed to honour the late Kibaki and left.

Uhuru and Kibaki sweated it out for the presidency in 2002. Kibaki carried the day.

In 2007, Uhuru shelved his presidential quest and threw his weight behind Kibaki.

After Kibaki completed his two terms, he handed over power to Uhuru.

Though he never endorsed Uhuru publicly, behind-the-scenes Kibaki did anything in his powers to ensure Uhuru won the 2013 presidential election.

After his retirement, Kibaki kept a low-profile.

His last public address was in 2016 during the burial of former Nyeri Governor Nderitu Gachagua. Some people claimed that the speech was incoherent.

Kibaki was last seen in public in February 2019 when he viewed the body of his predecessor, Daniel Arap Moi.

The former President will laid to rest on Saturday.
