Jubilee Party says it has completed interviews of all candidates involved in the consensus process from last week and will embark on issuing certificates to qualified candidates.
On Tuesday, the party started awarding certificates to aspirants for several seats.
Making the announcement, Secretary-General Jeremiah Kioni said that the process had been successful and that it had taken time to make decisions despite the challenges experienced.
Speaking when he met the Kikuyu Council of Elders at the council headquarters in Ruaka, Kiambu County Kioni said that there had been prior plans by rivals from the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) to destabilize the nomination process had it been conducted through the primaries hence they decided to follow the route of consensus this noting had been a sure way.
Kioni embraced the elder’s effort to fully take charge and mobilization of Jubilee and ODM grassroots leaders in coming together to form a united movement in engaging with electorates in Kiambu County to desist from divisive politics and hatred that has been generated by their opponents.
The elders led by their Chairman Wachira Kiago of Kikuyu Council of Elders (KCE) and Ndung’u Wagithuma National Chairman Kiama Ki’ama pledged support saying they had been meeting as Azimio la Umoja delegation from the ground to fully coordinate the campaigns of all parties from the coalition to ensure that it captures all seats from the ground.
Speaking at the same time Kiago criticized the rise of a movement that had been advocating for the circumcision of women in certain parts of central Kenya saying its motive was ill and meant to bring backwardness to the society.
Accompanied by other elders, he called upon the various Government authorities to crackdown on the perpetrators of the vices saying they should be held accountable for such incidences.
