The State has sent out a directive to have passengers from Kisumu Airport to Wilson Airport subjected to Ebola screening. This move is a precautionary measure given the neighbouring country Uganda recently had a 5 year old boy and his grandmother succumb to the virus. Kenya and Uganda have business relations and infected persons coming from Uganda can spread the virus in Kenya.
The young boy and his family entered Uganda from the Democratic Republic Of Congo where it is suspected he contracted the virus from. His other family members are in isolation in case they are infected. The DRC has been dealing with the ebola pandemic since last year October and over 1600 people have been affected.
In neighboring Tanzania, the Minister of Health has also issued an ebola alert as there is active involvement between the two countries at the border.
Ebola is life threatening and persons infected can die if they are not well taken care of. Signs include;
- Fever.
- Severe headache.
- Muscle pain.
- Weakness.
- Fatigue.
- Diarrhea.
- Vomiting.
- Abdominal (stomach) pain.
