Sasha Mbote, a Kenya businesswoman hit headlines in 2017 after she was pictured with ODM leader Raila Odinga.

She was at Park Hyatt Hotel in Zanzibar when he spotted the former Prime Minister, a man she had always admired.

Speaking during an interview on the Lynn Ngugi YouTube channel, she explained that she was star struck and the first thing that came to her mind was to take photos with the enigma of Kenyan politics.

“I screamed Oh my God! Baba! He stood up and shook my hand and he introduced me to his people. I told him my parents will not believe that I met you, can I please take a picture with you?”

Her request was granted.

She then moved out of Zanzibar to Arusha in Tanzania, but the moment she opened her phone, the internet was on fire.

Her photos with Raila had already leaked and it was thought that she was Raila’s side chick.

Since presidential campaigns were at the peak, both sides of the political divide engaged in hot debates on social media platforms.

The Jubilee side of President Uhuru Kenyatta milked the photos, claiming that the opposition chief was cheating on his wife.

The National Super Alliance (Nasa) politicians phoned her and accused her on being paid by Jubilee to taint the name of their leader.

“I always tell people this, if my mother and father doubted my dignity, I would have killed myself. As much as I was putting up a face, I was broken inside,” she said.

Today, Sasha is always careful before taking a photo with anyone.
