The National Super Alliance affiliate parties have hugely benefited from Jubilee Party infighting that saw renegades being pushed out of lucrative Parliament committees.
The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) was perhaps the biggest beneficiary owing to its leader Raila Odinga’s close working ties with Jubilee’s boss President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Cognizant of the need to wrestle influential positions from Deputy President William Ruto the two leaders meticulously installed loyalist to push Building Bridges Initiative agenda (BBI).
Before the leadership changes were effected Ruto’s Tanga Tanga members enjoyed and sat in committees on Delegated Legislation, Justice and Legal Affairs, Budget and Appropriation among others.
These and other powerful dockets were handed to pro-handshake MPs while those perceived to be BBI critics were relegated to less lucrative positions.
“With the changes in parliamentary leadership including committee membership and leadership now concluded, I urge all MPs not to be divided but work together in serving the people. Col.3:23, whatever you do,work at it with all your heart, as working for God, not human masters,” Ruto reacted on July 16.
