This year’s Madaraka Day celebrations will be held at Uhuru Gardens, Nairobi County, Interior PS Karanja Kibicho has announced.

Addressing the press on Thursday, 12th May after inspecting the venue PS Kibicho said that preparations were almost complete.

“As you can see, all the infrastructure is complete and I can proudly say we are 90 per cent ready with little work left to give character to these celebrations three weeks to the event,’’ he said.

This will be the last Madaraka Day celebrations under President Uhuru Kenyatta and the Jubilee administration.

“The celebrations will be held in Uhuru Gardens, Nairobi in appreciation of the significance of this particular event,” Kibicho stated.

According to Kibicho, 30,000 people will be allowed to attend the event.

“At least 30,000 Kenyans will be allowed into the grounds in this year’s Madaraka Day celebrations. This is an increase from the 10,000 who were allowed into the grounds during last year’s Jamhuri Day celebrations due to the Covid-19 pandemic,” he said.

The Madaraka Day celebrations are set for 1st June 2022.
