Bomet Governor Hillary Barchok confirmed this development and said the county had begun contact tracing of the passengers who travelled with the new patient.
Speaking to NTV, Barchok said over 18 members of the man’s family had also been quarantined as he also urged members of the public to up their guard after the travel restrictions were lifted.
“If you have been confirmed to be positive, please do not travel until you are declared free of coronavirus,” Barchok said.
In his address on Monday, July 6, the president also asked Kenyans to avoid non-essential travels to upcountry to protect the elderly who were vulnerable to the virus.
As of Sunday, July 12, the number of recoveries in Kenya stood at 2,881, while the death toll was 185 with the nationally tally being 10,105.
