A die-hard supporter of Deputy President William Ruto who travelled all the from Nakuru to deliver a gift to his favourite politician is stranded in the city.

Silas Wanjaru designed a sculpture of the DP for a whole year before he set out for Nairobi to present the gift to the second in command.

He walked while pushing a wheelbarrow that was carrying the carve.

The artiste spent five days on the road before entering the city on May 24.

Six days later, he has not been able to hand over the gift.

Wanjeru explained that security officers at Dr Ruto’s official residence in Karen blocked him from entering since he had not booked an appointment.

He spent the first day outside the residence. The following day, a well-wisher gave him a spot at a car park and that’s where he has been sleeping.

Protecting the object from being stolen and getting food have been a challenge.

“Food may be irregular but the DP’s neighbours are very caring as they have been giving me something to eat,” he said.

The father of four added that people are showing him so much love when they spot him.

He claims that he has been assured that the DP will meet him in the coming days, though the date is yet to be confirmed.

Further, Wanjeru says he will not give up until he comes face-to-face with his icon.

The artiste noted that he delights in mobilising support for the Deputy President to ensure that he replaces his boss, President Uhuru Kenyatta, after the August 9 General Election.
