Meru police officers arrest 3 men who kidnapped man arrested

An operation by intelligence team from the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has led to arrest of three suspects in kidnap syndicate.

The three men all of whom aged 30, were identified as Patrick Kimathi, Joseph Karithi and Daniel Muroki were busted inside Njuri Ncheke forest in Mpinda village, Meru county.

According to the officers, the suspects had allegedly kidnapped a victim for 14 days and had been demanding KSh 150,000 as ransom from the family so as to secure his release.

Reports indicated the three had taken cover inside the forest but were sighted and busted with the help of the members of the public when they attempted to flee.

On further interrogations, they accepted to lead the officers to a nearby thicket where the victim was rescued after two weeks of abduction.

The victim was taken for medical check and suspects taken in lawful custody as several items that were recovered from the scene were kept as exhibits.
