Moesha dances for one of Kenya’s foremost dance groups called FBI.
Moesha Kibibi owes her life and most of her success to dancing. As the only female in the dance group known as FBI short for Focus Beyond Imagination, whose members all grew up in the Majengo slums, she remains an icon to the young girls she mentors.
After coming in in second place at the Sakata competition in 2009, her philanthropic nature steered her to pay tuition fees for four other girls and so began her journey as a guide for many girls who have lived her story.
In this interview with Shiksha Moesha talks about pulling herself up by the bootstraps: from selling groundnuts in Gikomba to dancing in one of Kenya’s foremost dance crews to founding an initiative to help girls in the slums aspire to something better.
