Mombasa governor Ali Hassan Joho, has been sentenced to 60 days jail term or pay 250, 000/=, this is after he was found guilty of overseeing the demolition of a private property in Mombasa.

The Environment and Land Court Judge, Sila Munyao, noted that the county boss demolished Mombasa tycoon Ashok Doshi’s perimeter wall in Changamwe on May 10, 2019 despite existence of a court order barring the destruction.

As reported by a local media house, Joho has been summoned to appear before the court but he failed severally. He was accused of hiring 100 goons who demolished the property estimated to cost 1 million Kenyan shillings.

Also sentenced is the changamwe ward member of the county assembly Hon. Bernard Ogutu who has been given 14 days jail term or pay 20, 000/=

Sindhi had reportedly been granted protection against the destruction of his wall by Johos’s government. The order was issued by Lady Justice Ann Omollo on March 6, 2019.

Joho has been hiting headlines over Mombasa demolitions, this act has been strongly condemned by both the locals and the politicians from across the Political divide.
