While the money laundering business referred to as ‘wash wash’ has been booming for a long time, many more celebrities, including musicians, have joined comedian Jalang’o in distancing themselves from it. Jalang’o said he had never imagined that anyone would question his integrity as he works hard for his money.

Three following three Kenyan celebrities have spoken out against the vice:

Tanasha Donna

Kenyan musician Tanasha Donna took exception to being mentioned in blogger Edgar Obare’s exposee. Taking to her Insta stories, the mother of one lamented wrote:

“I’m not the one to address things but YO! All these false rumours be getting out of control. How does someone wake up one day and decide to fabricate a story just for attention? I work hard and very hard for my shit. Everything I own today I bought with my own hard-earned money and sweat! Don’t involve my name in y’all BS. Some of y’all are Sickening! SICKENING!”

This was after an unidentified informant claimed that Tanasha’s blue Mercedes wasn’t hers but was purchased by the late Kelvin Onwenga, who was shot dead in his bedroom in unclear circumstances last year.

Prezzo

Rapper Prezzo, real name Jackson Ngechu Makini has also commented on the issue. However, his message was a bit cryptic and one had to read between the lines.

“Fellow Kenyans, the only tea y’all should rely on is the tea from Kericho. Story za osha osha mwachieni huyo dish washer!” he wrote.

Betty Kyallo

Former KTN and K24 TV news anchor Betty Kyallo chose comment on the allegations. Betty, who has countlessly revealed she “despises negative energy”, only answered with ‘lol’. This was when a fan tried to inquire if she’s into such deals or it’s people being jealous of her success.

Edgar Obare announced that his Instagram account had been deactivated due to the recent wash was exposee. However, he assured his fans he was working to get his account back.
