Three vocal politicians from the Mt Kenya bloc have dropped their bullish political stances in a new unity quest.

Gatundu South MP and Chama Cha Kazi (CCK) Moses Kuria, Narc-Kenya party boss Martha Karua and her TSP counterpart Mwangi Kiunjuri met today and committed to uniting their region.

In a joint press conference at the Serena Hotel in Nairobi, the trio asserted that the Mt Kenya region was losing its bargaining power at the national level.

They declared to form an inter-parties forum that Mountain leaders will use to negotiate with other regions ahead of the 2022 General Election.

“We also commit to reaching out to other like-minded leaders to broaden the forum and deepen our unity of purpose,” Karua said.
For his part, Kiunjuri affirmed that they were not ready to fold their parties in favour of any outfit.

“CCK, Narc-Kenya, and TSP will be on the ballot in 2022. It is not a suggestion, but it is a decision that has already been made,” he said.
Some allies of Deputy President William Ruto from the region have been pressuring Kiunjuri and Kuria to dissolve their parties and join the United Democratic Alliance (UDA).

In a separate speech yesterday, Kuria, who has been tormented by claims of being a mole in Tangatanga, said some leaders were on a mission to manipulate voters in the Mt Kenya region.

“Call us tribalists or whatever you want, but one thing we must do is having our political parties where our issues can be articulated. I cannot trust a person from another region to set the agenda for our people because they do not know us,” he said.
