ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi has taunted his former co-principals in the One Kenya Alliance (OKA) for storming out of his party’s National Delegates Convention (NDC) on Sunday.

Kanu chairman Gideon Moi and Wiper boss Kalonzo Musyoka walked out of the meeting after it became clear that Deputy President William Ruto was the chief guest.

The OKA chiefs claimed that Mudavadi had not informed that the second in command would grace the convention.

They accused the former Finance Minister of political conmanship and broke off their partnership with him.

Speaking during his first day of joint rallies with the DP in Nakuru County today, January 26, Mudavadi chided his Kalonzo and Moi, saying what they did showed political immaturity.

He defended his decision to work with Ruto, saying he has refused to be coerced to support ODM leader Raila Odinga. He claimed that the former Prime Minister was a “State project”.

“If you fell out with Ruto, don’t force me to do the same. The constitution is very clear. I am free to talk to anyone. They ran away when they saw Ruto at the Bomas of Kenya; they should know that people are the ones to decide,” he said.

Kalonzo has said the exit of Mudavadi from OKA is a blessing in disguise for him.

“Now the competition in OKA is not clouded, this only means I will be on the ballot as a presidential candidate,” he said.

Mudavadi is reported to have left OKA on suspicion that the Kanu boss had been planted in the coalition by the “deep state”, a claim the younger Moi has rubbished.
