Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru has insisted that her heart and soul are in the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party.

Waiguru’s remarks came after a video of her referring to DP William Ruto as leader of the Azimio coalition went viral on social media.

“Wacheni false hopes… My heart and soul are in UDA and Kenya Kwanza #CoalitionOfTheFree,” she said.

She had made the remarks during the signing of coalition agreements between Kenya Kwanza and affiliate parties at the Nairobi Ngong Racecourse on Tuesday, 12th April.

Eight political parties including Chama Cha Kazi (CCK), Tujibebe Wakenya Party, The Service Party (TSP), Devolution Party of Kenya (DPK), Farmers Party, Economic Freedom Party (EFP), Umoja Maendeleo Party, Communist Party of Kenya (CPK) signed an agreement to join Kenya Kwanza coalition during the event.

The Kirinyaga County Governor was forced to apologise to the Kenya Kwanza Alliance leaders after the slip of the tongue.

“Your excellency the Deputy President of Kenya, the party leader of UDA and the leader of the Azimio group, alliance…,” Waiguru said.

Waiguru stated that she made the error only because she had planned to criticize the Odinga-led coalition beforehand.

“Sorry, oh my goodness! And the leader of Kenya Kwanza Alliance, my sincere apologies, because I was considering what I’ll say about them.”

The Governor became a trending topic on Twitter after a video of her making an extraordinary gaffe went viral.
