Nairobi club releases statement following murder within its premises

A man’s homicide is reported to have been conducted at Deja Vu lounge.

A very disturbing video has been doing rounds online depicting a man being brutally beaten by a couple of club bouncers. The video is about a case that occurred on 5th March at a popular club in Westlands, DeJa Vu lounge.

It is reported that on that Saturday night, the man called Charles Chege, was accused of stealing another reveller’s phone, taken into a secluded room within the club’s premises and beaten senselessly. The video that has thousands of views now has caused an uproar among Kenyans calling for justice. Charles’ body ended up being discovered later on by a roadside.

Over the weekend, the club management issued a statement about the case. The statement reads that Deja Vu does not condone any unlawful punishment within its premises, and condemn the act. The club further goes to deny murdering Charles Chege stating that he was alive by the time he was evacuated from the premises.

Charles’ sister Anne Fataki conveys that her brother’s autopsy reveals he suffered multiple injuries as a result of blunt force trauma. His ribs and legs were broken. His head appeared as though it had been hit with a blunt object. He also had blood clots all over the body,” she said. Since the incident, eight people including the club manager and two bouncers have been taken into police custody with investigations being done.
