Police dramatically arrested Nandi County Governor Stephen Sang within Elgeyo Marakwet County where he had gone into hiding after maliciously destroying 2,500 mature tea bushes at Kibwari estate in Nandi Hills sub-county.

The governor and two MCA’s David Koech and Gideon Koech were arrested at Samich Tourist Resort Hotel and transferred to Kondele Police station in Kisumu.

Sang was caught on camera over the weekend cutting down tea bushes on the land said to have been grabbed by individuals.

He said that he was acting on complaints from his voters who decried that the four acres of land reserved for the establishment of public utilities had been grabbed.

Earlier County police Commander Thomas Ngeiywa had made it known to the public that the security forces were in hot pursuit of the Governor over his role in the destruction of private property
