The National relays team that took part in last weekend’s World Relays competition in Silesia, Poland jetted back after winning two silver and one bronze medal at the two day competition that attracted 36 countries.
The 30-member squad surpassed the 2019 performance where Kenya won one medal, a bronze in Yokohama,Japan.

Ferguson Rotich and Naomi Korir won silver in the mixed relay 2x2x400m while 4x200m quartet of Mark Otieno,Hesbon Ochieng,Elijah Onkware and Mike Mokamba added a second silver for Kenya on the final day of the competition..
Kenya’s only Bronze at the competition was won by Rukia Nusra,Wiseman Were,Michael Musyoki and Priscilah Tabunda in the Mixed shuttle hurdles relay race .

Kenya wound up third with 24 points behind Italy and hosts Poland who were ranked second and first respectively.

The local athletics calendar now shifts to the forthcoming national trials which will act as qualification for the Africa athletics championship due in Algeria in June.

Athletics Kenya is also expected to hold trials for the Olympic Games in Tokyo as well as the World Athletics Under 20 Championship which will be held in Nairobi in July.
