Ndindi Nyoro Kicked Out of Parliament Over Bribery Drama [VIDEO]

Kiharu Member of Parliament, Ndindi Nyoro, was on Wednesday, January 5, suspended from Parliament during the debate on the controversial Political Parties Amendment Bill (2021)

Nyoro was suspended for two days from the House over bribery allegations he made against Wajir East MP, Fatuma Gedi.

In his submission before the House, the outspoken MP allied to Deputy President William Ruto claimed that Gedi was issuing bribes to pro-handshake Legislators.

He further alleged that the money Gedi was distributing were proceeds of corruption obtained from the Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (KEMSA) scandal.

“There has been a trend of bribing members in this House, and today we saw money being distributed by Hon Gedi to members who are voting in favour of this Bill,” he claimed.
 
“I cannot be intimidated by these hecklers and Covid billionaires.”

Chaos broke out in Parliament following the Legislator’s remarks and escalated when he refused to heed to a request by Homa Bay MP, Gladys Wanga, to withdraw the statement. 

“Based on Standing Order 107, having misled the House, I order the Hon. Ndindi Nyoro to be removed from the precincts of Parliament for two days,” session Speaker, Jessica Mbalu, declared.

Gedi was also suspended for one day for distributing lollipops (sweets) in the House. Mbalu called upon the Sergeant-at-Arms to ensure the two were ejected from Parliament building.

Earlier on, the Majority Leader, Amos Kimunya, was forced to asked for protection for the Speaker after he was waylaid by a section of MPs as he took to the floor to move an amendment to the Bill.

In an earlier interview, the Kipipiri law maker claimed that members affiliated to DP had set out on a plan to deliberately derail the debate on the Bill by causing chaos.

However, he was adamant that the Bill would pass, affirming that he had backing from pro-government MPs.
