Machakos county first lady, Lilian Nganga marked her 35th birthday in style, on Monday!
She marked the milestone by covering a few miles on the road, quite literally!
According to the beautiful Lilian, 3 months ago, she set a goal to cover at least 35 kilometers on her 35th birthday.
She revealed that before this new achievement, the most she had done was 21 kilometers.
For her to achieve her new set goal, she had to embark on a totally different training program.
She wrote,
3 Months ago, I set a goal to run #35km for my birthday on June 22nd, as I turn #35years.
My longest run had been a #halfmarathon #21km so I embarked on a different training program for me to run #35km.
Yesterday was the D day and we for sure did complete #35km.
In the photos is the team I’ve been training with and together we did it yesterday.
Just #keeprunning #35for35 #goals #nolimits #keeppushing #june2020 #birthdays #birthdaymonth #birthdayrun #doitall.
She went ahead to state that she is aiming to beat her 35kms limit and do a full marathon which normally is 42 kilometers. The next stop can only be #fullmarathontraining #fullmarathon #letsdothis.
I couldn’t be happier! Best birthday gift to self.
Lilian who was accompanied by her hubby, Governor Alfred Mutua and her training team, did not forget to thank him for always being supportive of her dreams.
A big thank you to Alfred for EVERYTHING and your constant support. You sure did make my run easier.
Lilian’s effort can only be matched or bettered by Kenya’s first lady, Margaret Kenyatta, who’s well known for running through her Beyond Zero initiative.
With president Uhuru Kenyatta’s term coming to an end in two years and Governor Mutua among those looking to lead the country, should he win, will Lilian become the next Margaret Kenyatta?
