Guests attending the State funeral of the late former President Mwai Kibaki will not be allowed to play politics or make political statements during the service.

The Catholic Clergy presiding over the service led by Nairobi Archbishop Phillip Anyolo sounded an early warning that the ceremony would be devoid of politics.

Just after President Uhuru Kenyatta and other dignitaries had paid their last respect to Kibaki, Anyolo said, “In this ceremony no politics or political statements will be allowed.” Before proceeding with the sermon.

Archbishop Phillip took time to celebrate Kibaki, describing him as a God fearing man who loved worshiping at the Consolata Shrine Catholic church.

He recounted the former President’s contribution to the society, his partnership with the church in various initiatives as well as commitment to the unity of the Country.

“Today is a historic day, while we bid farewell to our former President, campaigns will continue. We will continue to search for leaders to succeed the current ones. Those seeking must be ready to be servant leaders,” He said.
