Not Pretty And Denied Entry Into Ruto Home: Poor Lady, 24, Bags UDA Ticket For Bomet Seat

Joy comes in the morning.

Linet Chepkorir Toto had a dream: To represent the people of Bomet County as their Woman Representative in the National Assembly.

Young and determined, but with no political godfather and very little resources to match the vibrant campaigns of her competitors.

Toto grabbed headlines a few months ago when guards at Deputy President William Ruto’s residence blocked her, perhaps because of her looks. The DP was meeting aspirants running on the United Democratic Alliance (UDA).

The 24-year-old soldiered on despite the setback, but social media bullies did not spare her.

She was trolled because of her looks and simple clothes. Some unforgiving social media users said she was not beautiful.

That did not discourage her either.

The youthful politician continued with her low-key campaigns. Today she is looking back and smiling.

Believe it or not, she floored moneyed and “good-looking” aspirants to win the much coveted UDA ticket and will be the party’s candidate in the August General Election. She did not defeat one, but eight women.

Within the UDA ticket, Toto’s one foot is already in the National Assembly. It is unlikely she will lose given that Bomet is a stronghold of Ruto and UDA.

Indeed, that must be an incredibly sweet victory and congratulations to Toto.
