– Man United vs Southampton saw the Red Devils miss out on a glorious chance to move to fifth on the standings
– Goals from Rashford and Martial were not enough to save United from a frustrating draw at Old Trafford
– Obafemi scored at stoppage time to ensure the match ends all square as the Manchester side cemented their place in fifth
Man United’s hopes of moving to third on the Premier League standings were dealt a massive blow after they were forced to a 2-2 draw by Southampton at Old Trafford.
Two first half goals from Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial was not enough to earn United all the three points as Obafemi scored late to ensure the two sides share the spoils.
United had to come from a goal down during the Monday night, July 13, to take an early lead after Stuart Armstrong netted the opener in the 12th minute.
Marcus Rashford thought he had restored parity for United in the 16th minute after he was set up by Martial only for his effort to be ruled out for an offside.

The second half of the clash saw the Saints take advantage of United’s laxity to punish Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men as Obafemi netted a stoppage time equaliser.
The result mean the Manchester club has now gone 18 matches without defeat in all competitions but missed out on a glorious chance to increase their chances of finishing in the top four.
