A newly released report has named the most active and silent MPs both in the Senate and National Assembly.

The Parliamentary Scorecard released on Wednesday by Mzalendo Trust – a Parliamentary Monitoring Organization (PMO)—indicates that Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi and his Nakuru Town West counterpart Samuel Arama have never spoken in the National Assembly since they were reelected in 2017.

Mzalendo Trust avers that MPs’ failure to make contributions in Parliament undermines the role of the House.

At least 21 MPs, two in the Senate and 19 in the National Assembly, made no contributions on the floor of the House in 2019, according to the report.

They are Abdi Tepo (Isiolo South), Abdi Shurie (Balambala), Ahmed Gaal (Tarbaj), Johnson Naicca (Mumias West), Amin Deddy (Laikipia East) Geoffrey Kingagi (Mbeere South), James Gakuya (Embakasi North) and George Aladwa (Makadara).

Others are; John Owino (Awendo), Oscar Sudi (Kapseret), Stanley Muthama (Lamu West), Gideon Konchella (Kilgoris), Justus Kizito (Shinyalu), Samuel Arama (Nakuru Town West), Alfred Sambu (Webuye East) and James Mukwe (Kabuchai).

Rose Museo (Makueni), Beatrice Kones (Bomet East), and Amina Gedow (Mandera) were listed as the most silent Woman Representatives in the House.

The best-performing Senators include Ledama Ole Kina (Narok), Moses Wetang’ula (Bungoma), Aaron Cheruiyot (Kericho), Ochilo Ayako (Migori) and Getrude Musuruve (Nominated).

Mercy Chebeni (Nominated), Christine Zawadi (Nominated), Philip Mpaayei (Kajiado), Halima Abdille (Nominated), and Amos Wako (Busia) were listed as the most silent MPs in the Senate.

In the National Assembly, MPs who made the highest contributions include; David Sankok (Nominated), Wilberforce Ojiambo (Funyula), Robert Pukose (Endebess), and Benson Makali (Kitui Central).

Best performing female MPs in the National Assembly are Millie Odhiambo (Suba North), Jacqueline Oduol (Nominated), Jennifer Shamala (Nominated), Ruweida Obo (Lamu) and Sophia Noor (Ijara).
