Owalo: I’m not interested in Gor Mahia’s chairmanship

Politician Eliud Owalo says he is neither interested in the chairmanship of Gor Mahia FC nor any other position for that matter, both during the forthcoming general elections and in the foreseeable future.

He says he has been a fan of the Club since the 1980’s and he’s happy being and remaining an ordinary but committed member of the Gor Mahia family.

Owalo added that when granted, he does provide some material support once in a while to the club depending on unfolding events from time to time, but that should not be misconstrued to imply he is interested in any leadership position at the club.

“As a Kenyan people, we need to change our mind set from the parochial and retrogressive thinking that we should only provide support to certain  initiatives in anticipation of something in return, worst of all positions of leadership. This is the negative culture that has made us suffer a leadership deficit at all levels in the past. We should support various initiatives based on and informed by our genuine commitment to the cause as opposed to egocentric interests.” He said

During the elections there are four posts on offer.

Long serving chairman Ambrose Rachier will be looking to defend his seat while the position of treasurer has attracted three aspirants; Dolfina Odhiambo, Chripine Okoth and former Organizing Secretary Judith Nyangi.
