A cross section of PCEA church has called on top officials of the church to resign immediately for replacing independent minded heads of department at the head office with unscrupulous sycophants to dance at their tune at the expense of prudent management and administration of the 5 million member church.
Enraged members of the congregations in all the presbyteries have named the moderator of the General Assembly, Rev Julius Mwamba, the Secretary General Rev Kariuki Kania and his deputy, Rev Mugendi Kanga, as the enemies of the denomination.
Authoritative insider sources have named victims of the unjust transfers of the independent minded officials from head office to remote stations who include Rev Simon Githiora who has been taken to an outreach Parish in Thika subcounty yet the cleric was the head of Christian Education and the youth desk at the head office.
He was replaced by a recently ordained minister Rev Anthony Mwangi who was previously ministering in an outreach parish in western Kenya.
Equally the same, the head of church school for boys and girls brigade Rev Macharia has been replaced with another apologist of the moderator, secretary general and his deputy, Rev Peter Nderitu who has been a chaplain at the National Police Training College in Kiganjo, Nyeri county. Rev John Mbae is now the director of the communications. The director of Woman’s Guild has been replaced with another hawk of the three top leaders of the church, Rev Elizabeth Kimani.
The director of the Presbyterian Foundation Waweru was given a summary dismissal for questioning the controversial sale of a nine acre Laverne land in Thome in Nairobi at a cost of Sh500 million instead of the initial offer of Sh800 million.

Rev Kania.
Inside sources further revealed that Rev Mwamba, Rev Kania and Rev Kanga settled on the lower offer in that they earned Sh50 million commission as opposed to the Sh800 million deal since no commission was being earned by the trio in this offer.
The land was initially sold to the church by the family of the departed former cabinet minister Arthur Magugu. The church had earmarked to construct an outreach hospital facility of PCEA Kikuyu hospital eye unit. However, a lot more lately, the church’s head office changed the decision and opted to dispose the property to raise funds to bail out financially troubled Presbyterian University.
Impeccable insider sources say the top leadership of the church has come up with a new policy behind the back of the highest decision and policy making organ of the church ie, the general assembly committees of the groups of the church which include Presbyterian Church Men Fellowship, boys and girls brigade no longer have representation at the head office contrary to church procedure and practice.
The new back door policy does not apply to woman’s guild. “This divide and rule machination is aimed at keeping away church members from holding the top leadership of the church accountable in running the affairs of the church and especially keeping a hawk eye on the financial books of the denomination,” noted ordained church elder Gerry Gichunuku.
The dossier also revealed that for the last four years the church has received no donor funding ostensibly because its donor partner, the Presbyterian Church of United States of America has severed it is working relationship with the church due to graft, looting of donor funds and tithes as well as gross mismanagement of the church affairs. A couple of days ago, desperate secretary general sent a mission to Presbyterian Church of United States.

Rev Robert Waihenya
The mission included the head of donor funds desk Rev Robert Waihenya and Rev Wambui Waweru who is the head of Christian education desk at the head office of the church but PCUSA gave the mission a deaf ear. The duo is suspected to have some suspicious relationship. The three day fully church funded tour became a matter of chasing wind. The duo extended their stay under controversial circumstances. Church members have demanded for the relevant government agencies to launch fullscale probe on how Rev Waihenya facilitated the sale of a rental flat at Kayole in the city to members of PCEA Ihururu Parish in Nyeri county to a cost of Sh20 million when he was minister incharge of the parish. The building was sold by a first cousin to Rev Waihenya and authorities say that the building was constructed on a road reserve and that the project has impoverished PCEA Ihururu parishioners in raising the money to purchase the building.
The dossier further reveals that Rev Wambui Waweru was spying for the top leadership while she was serving King’ong’o parish as a church minister in Nyeri county while Rev Waihenya was doing the same job in Nyeri before the duo was rewarded by being transferred to head lucrative desks at the head office of the church.
The secretary general is also reported to have colluded with the director of Presbyterian Church Men Fellowship Francis Mathea and secretly sold a prime plot in Karen, Nairobi to a cost of Sh40 million. Rev Kania and Mathea are said not to have accounted for the money raised in the contentious sale. Each member of PCMF across 54 presbyteries contributed Sh2,000 when the Karen plot was being purchases.
Insiders further revealed that the pioneer governor of Nakuru county government Kinuthia Mbugua poached Mathea from PCEA head office and hired him as CEC in charge of finance. But Nakuru county assembly passed a vote of no confidence on Mathea allegedly over wanton graft. He was brought back to PCEA head office through the back door by the secretary general of the church to head finance department.
No competitive recruitment exercise was done in his controversial employment. “For that position to be filled, a competitive recruitment exercise must be conducted in line with the procedure and practice of the church”, a woman’s guild official, Nyachomba Kwamwanjo said.

Rev Lucy Wambui Waweru
The National Bank of Kenya has already moved to court to seek authority to sell Milele Beach hotel in Mombasa over Sh791 million unpaid debt. Consequently, the secretary general has sent a circular to all the 54 presbyteries to work out ways and means of raising the money to rescue the hotel from the fall of the hammer.
But church members have asserted that they would only do so when convincing reasons are given by the top leadership of the church why it has been unable to clear the loan and that the hotel is a profit making concern.
The hotel was initially known as Giriama Beach Hotel and it is situated in Mtwapa. It was disposed to the church by former coast PC Eliud Mahihu in 2007. He transited to the land without thunder in 2008. The departed former PC was a church elder at PCEA Makupa church in Mombasa.
A retired PCEA clergyman Rev Thomas Ngobu also questioned how Rev Kania landed into the plum position of the secretary general of the church since he had hitherto held no leadership position for instance, clerk to a given presbytery or even a moderator of the same against normal practice of the church. “Wanting leadership skills that have been displayed by Rev Kania for the last four years at the head office of the church could largely be blamed on that,” Rev Ngobu remarks.
The man of the collar also questioned why the moderator, the secretary general and his deputy each is given Sh20,000 whenever they make visits to parishes. He termed this as extortion in disguise.
The cleric also questioned whey each department at the head office of the church is being asked to part with Sh100,000 towards Daniel Mwirigi medical fund. Mwirigi is a son to the moderator Rev Julius Mwamba.
He is hospitalised at the Nairobi Hospital ICU/HDU after sustaining serious head injuries following a motorbike accident in Nairobi. The medical bill stands at Sh10 million.
Presbyterian church donor partners in Europe and United States have also been overly uncomfortable with the PCEA bigwigs at the head office for opening parallel churches in western countries without due consultations. The parallel churches are being headed by rogue pastors many of whom have been defrocked over indiscipline but somehow they have clandestinely secured favours from the three big wings of the church at the head office.
