Deputy President William Ruto could be headed to a new Jubilee faction, Jubilee Asili. A breakaway from the original Jubilee Party, which has been taken over by President Uhuru Kenyatta and his men.

This comes just few hours after Wiper and CCM made a pact to work together towards 2022. In fact, CCM leader Issac Rutto said at the event President Uhuru Kenyatta is too young to retire in 2022. The agreement was also signed by the Wiper Party, whose leader Kalonzo Musyoka was also present.

”President Uhuru is committed to the unity of the republic. We fully support this agenda as a party. In fact the president is too young to retire in 2022,” Rutto, who is also the first Bomet Governor said.

While speaking at the ruling party’s headquarters, Jubilee Vice Chair David Murathe said the signing of an agreement between Wiper and CCM will pave way for a joint coalition with the major parties.

If Ruto forms Jubilee Asili, it will be a reminisce of August 1992, when FORD split into two factions – FORD-Asili (led by Kenneth Matiba) and FORD-Kenya (led by Oginga Odinga).
