Langata Police have arrested a politician Emmanuel Osore after he shot and injured a civilian during the Ford Kenya delegate conference at Bomas of Kenya on Thursday, 4th November.

According to the National Police Service (NPS), Osore who serves as the Busia County Ford Kenya chairman is said to have disagreed with one of the delegates after which he drew his civilian licensed firearm and shot aimlessly injuring one Maurice Wafula.

Osore was promptly arrested by duty police and will face charges related to the misuse of a firearm.

The Service has cautioned holders of licensed guns to exercise caution and restraint, especially during the electioneering period.

“We caution all licensed firearm holders to exercise restraint and act responsibly when in possession of their licensed firearms, especially during the emotive electioneering period,” NPS said in a statement.

Despite the shooting, the Ford Kenya National Delegates Conference (NDC) proceeded with the party endorsing Bungoma Senator Moses as its presidential candidate in the 2022 General Election.

The event was also attended by fellow One Kenya Alliance (OKA) co-principals (KANU) leader Gideon Moi and (Wiper) Kalonzo Musyoka.

ANC party leader Musalia Mudavadi was represented at the meeting by Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala.

Speaking during the event Wetang’ula urged OKA co-principals to back him in his quest come 2022.

The Ford Kenya national leader promised to revive the agricultural sector, offer tax relief and support single mothers if elected under OKA.

“If Ford Kenya is given mandate to fly the OKA flag in 2022, my government will put more focus and attention to single mothers and ensure they enjoy their rights as any other mothers by giving bursaries to their children,” he said.

Wetang’ula further assured Kenyans that the OKA alliance will hold together and form the next government.
