Former Nairobi Deputy Governor Polycap Igathe has been picked to fly the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition party ticket in the Nairobi governorship race.

Igathe who will be deputized by former Kibwezi Member of Parliament Philip Kaloki was settled on after a meeting chaired by Azimio presidential candidate Raila Odinga and Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka.

ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna has been nominated to vie for Senator, while Esther Passaris will fly the ODM flag in the race for Nairobi County Woman Representative.

Friday’s line-up comes after days of political grandstanding, with leaders allied to Westlands MP vowing to accept nothing less than a gubernatorial ticket.

Friday’s deal to that effect halted ODM nominations in Westlands and Kibra, where Tim Wanyonyi and Benard Okoth were handed direct party tickets.

Timothy Wanyonyi agreed to seek re-election in Westlands.

Richard Ngatia, who was overlooked for the Jubilee ticket in the race for Nairobi Governor, has been appointed as the President’s Special Envoy on Trade.
