President Uhuru has issued a stern directive to the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and the Ethics and Anti-corruption Commission (EACC) not to summon the Deputy President William Ruto over any case.
It has been reported that the Head of State has been turning down the sleuths requests to summon the second in command to record a statement over various issue where the DP’s name has been mentioned.
The President has always maintained that he has nothing against his deputy despite allegations from Tangtanga brigade allied to the DP that the President has sidelined DP Ruto.
According to reports, the Head of State might be protecting the Deputy President or not prepared to see the political outcome if the investigative agencies are given a chance to investigate the DP.
When the DP accused three Cabinet Secretaries of plotting to eliminate him lady year, President Kenyatta directed the DCI to probe the threat on his Deputy’s life immediately.
The three Cabinet Secretaries were summoned DCI headquarters to record a statement, but did not record a statement since the complainant had not recorded a formal statement regarding the matter.
Detectives wanted Ruto to shed more light on claims he made early this year during the burial of Sergeant Kipyegon Kenei who was manning his Harambee House Annex office that DCI was being used by the system to finish him politically, but the President did not allow them to summon the DP to record a statement.
