Puzzle as 28-year-old Kitui police officer is found dead after failing to show up for parade

Detectives based in Kitui have launched investigations into the death of an administration police officer whose dead body was discovered on Thursday morning.

According to a police report seen by K24 Digital, Lameck Makori Momanyi ‘s body was found inside his tent at Border Police Unit Kanyonyo Campus after he failed to show up for parade.

“It was reported by RSM S/ SGT WERE of Border Police unit Kanyonyo Campus that today on 16/6/2021 at around 0800am the duty NCO namely cpl Thomas Muigai had called for team up parade and he realised that one officer APC Lameck Makori Momanyi aged 28 year was missing,” the police report read in part.

It’s then that the officer in charge left to establish Makori’s whereabouts and found the officer lying in his tent.

“Cpl Muigai went to his bush tent to check on him and on arrival he found the officer lying on his bed. He called him but the officer didn’t respond.”

“He immediately reported the matter to the camp RSM and other senior officers who visited the scene,” the police statement further said.

When the deceased failed to respond, the camp’s medical doctor was called and confirmed that the officer had already passed on.

“Led by the OCS Kanyonyo Police Station, the officers from this station visited the scene and established that the body had no physical injury,” the police report read.

The body of the officer was taken to Chiromo mortuary awaiting an autopsy.
