Azimio la Umoja flag bearer Raila Odinga is the most preferred presidential candidate among Kenyans, the latest opinion poll by Tifa has indicated.

Raila Odinga-Martha Karua received 39% of the vote, while William Ruto-Rigathi Gachagua got 35%.

The poll was conducted between May 15 and 16, while the two candidates choose their running mates.

Ruto’s popularity fell from 39% to 35% in the last poll, while Raila’s rose from 32% to 39%.

Azimio coalition is the most popular, with 38% of the vote, followed by Kenya Kwanza (28%), and One Kenya Alliance (3%).

“When looking at the distribution of support for various coalitions/alliances around the country, it’s clear that Azimio has the most support in Raila Odinga’s home region of Nyanza, despite receiving significant (and plurality) support in Coast,” TIFA Research Analyst Tom Wolf remarked.

The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) retained its lead with 29% of the vote, followed by the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) with 25%.

“Only UDA and ODM can claim widespread support across the country.”

“Support for the next two most popular parties, Jubilee and Wiper, is concentrated in certain regions (Mt. Kenya and Lower Eastern, respectively), with the same being true for FORD-Kenya, DAP-Kenya, and the ANC, though at very low levels of support in their ‘home’ areas,” Tom continued.
