ODM Raila Odinga received a cold reception at the heart of Deputy President William Ruto’s backyard in Uasin Gishu County and Elgeyo-Marakwet counties.
In Uasin Gishu, the former Prime Minister and his allies attended the burial of businessman-cum-politician Mzee Jackson Kibor.
One of the choppers they were using was pelted with stones and partly damaged by goons.
Suna East MP Junet Mohamed claimed that local leaders allied to the second in command paid goons to attack the Azimio la Umoja brigade.
“Today we almost got killed in soy constituency Uasin Gishu County at the Burial of Mzee Jackson Kibor’s burial . Our chopper was completly destroyed and we had to look for alternative means mid air… Congratulations Hon caleb Kositany. @WilliamsRuto is happy now, ” he said.
In Iten, Elgeyo-Marakwet County, Raila was forced to end his speech prematurely after a group of youths relentlessly heckled him.
The young people chanted pro-Ruto slogans and insisted that they were loyal to the Kenya Kwanza Alliance.
The noise was too much and the former Premier had no option, but to cut short his speech and proceed to his next meeting.
Cases of political intolerance have have on the rise as clock winds down down to the August General Election.
Politicians from both sides of the political divide have been faulted for sponsoring violence against their opponents.
When the DP visited Kisumu last year, his motorcade was stoned in Kondole and the bodyguard had to protect him.
He blamed Raila for allegedly instructing ODM leadership in Kisumu to pay jobless youths to cause violence.
