‘Raila is Judas Iscariot! He Betrayed Me,’ Wanjigi Says After His Release

Renowned Nairobi businessman, Jimi Wanjigi has accused Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga of his woes.

This comes after he was arrested by detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) at his Kwacha House offices in Westlands, Nairobi on Tuesday, 18th January.

He was released on Wednesday, 19th January after Milimani Senior Principal Magistrate Bernard Ochoi ruled that the case cannot proceed until further directions are given by the High court.

Wanjigi is accused of fraudulently acquiring the land accommodating one of his companies, Aureum Limited.

Speaking after his release Wanjigi compared Raila to the Biblical Judas Iscariot who betrayed Jesus after receiving 30 pieces of silver from the chief priests.

According to Wanjigi, the betrayal began with the handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga in 2018.

“My good friend Raila Odinga chose to forget what we fought for. He alone chose to put personal interest ahead of Kenyans interest,” he said.

“…Raila has betrayed all of us. Kenyans deserve a leader who puts their interest first. Economic liberation is my promise to all Kenyans. The time for true leadership has come.

Wanjigi said his arrest had nothing to do with land but his political stand. Wanjigi has expressed his interest to vie for Presidency on an ODM Party ticket in the forthcoming August polls.
