Raila Odinga cuts short his week-long US tour

Azimio La Umoja One Kenya presidential flag bearer Raila Odinga has cut short his tour of the US to jet back on Wednesday ahead of the burial of former President Mwai Kibaki.

The ODM leader Raila Odinga and his entourage arrived in Washington DC on Saturday and was set to hold a series of meetings with senior US government officials as well as senior members of the US Congress in Washington DC.

Raila was also to meet key African-American leaders and Kenyans in the American diaspora.

On Sunday, he held engagements with Special Adviser to the UN Secretary-General on the Prevention of Genocide Alice Wairimu Nderitu and former US Ambassador to Kenya Michael Ranneberger.

Also, during a town hall meeting with Kenyans living in the US in Washington DC, Raila reflected on his previous tour of the state in February 2020, noting that it coincided with the demise of Kenya’s second president, Daniel Arap Moi.

Among those accompanying Raila include NARC Kenya leader Martha Karua, Dr Sally, Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya, his Kisii counterpart James Ongwae, Homa Bay Senator Moses Kajwang, and Kathiani MP Robert Mbui. Kosgei.
